As my fans (both of them) know, I am a big believer in the ability of creating your own sales job. I did it a couple times in my career and have a course that will teach you how to do it yourself…guaranteed! So it goes without saying that I am always looking for stories about others who have created their own sales job.
Earlier this week I learned about Zoreen Kabani who started out in finance but realized that’s not what she wanted to do as a career. She wanted to do something creative. What I loved about Zoreen’s story is that she didn’t create a job and then ‘sell’ it to an established company, she created a one-person sales job with the help of the platform Whatnot.
What’s so cool about Whatnot is that you can list stuff for sale, just like any other platform, but you can also live stream your presentations to audiences around the world!
There are tons of categories, over 50 of them to sell in – electronics, fashion, collectibles, beauty, live plants, and more. It reminds me of the old QVC days.
The thing that really stood out to me in the article about Zoreen is she didn’t simply list items for sale and hold them up during her live presentations. She gave tips on styling and matching outfits…exactly what a great salesperson does! Show the product; show how to use it and how it can improve your life. She’s doing what great salespeople do, giving the buyer peace of mind that this purchase is worth the money.
Start brainstorming how you can do something similar, either with what you are currently selling or something you would like to start selling. If you work for a company, you can run your own live webinars and use the recording as marketing items to share with future prospects. Remember, you need to always be self-sourcing your leads. You went into sales to control your own destiny. Don’t leave your future up to your Marketing department.
Happy Selling!
